What are the Scopes of GHG Emissions?

The GHG Protocol categorizes emissions into three scopes:
Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, such as fuel combustion in company vehicles and manufacturing processes.
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling consumed by the reporting company.
Scope 3: All other indirect emissions that occur in the value chain of the reporting company, including both upstream and downstream emissions.
