In a typical SIB model, private investors provide upfront capital to fund a social intervention. If the intervention achieves the agreed-upon outcomes, the government or a philanthropic organization repays the investors their capital plus a return. If the outcomes are not achieved, the investors may lose some or all of their investment. This model encourages risk-sharing and accountability while fostering innovation in addressing social issues.
